Wondering...are people who have had excess skin removed surgically less likely to regain...
I lost over 200 lbs and have not had any skin removed .. My anv will be 9 years in Oct and I have remained with a BMI of 20 ... The surgery is a tool for me and to remain at goal for me I have to make good choices each day .. I made a whole life style change with mine .. My thoughts would be if the person was not committed to a life style change with the skin removed or not they would go back to old ways and gain it back .. Theses are only my thoughts on it .. If Skin removal is part of your whole plan and your taking care of your self as far as diet you should be successful .. I hope the best for you on this journey ..
Interesting thought.... For me the answer is YES! I remember one day after I had lost all my weight and I was following a young woman into a restaurant who was a little chubby and wearing shorts. I looked at her with "chubby envy" thinking I remember when I had chubby filled out legs. She looked adorable and I hated the excess skin I had dripping off all my body. I thought having "chubby envy" was not going to help me keep my weight off. I also remember one day sitting in a room on a very hot day and an old woman took off her sweater and was wearing a sleeveless top and again I thought .... wow, that woman is wearing sleeveless and I hated my arms with the skin hanging and wouldn't wear sleeveless.
Not liking my thin body with hanging skin was a red flag to me that I may not keep off my weight. I'm happy to say that 6 years after losing 100+ lbs. I have kept my weight off. I can't say that I love my scars, but I like them more than I did my hanging skin. For an older woman (61) I think I look awesome!
Thanks for the interesting question.
